Lymph Massage for Detox

Right now, my Lymph Massage offering is primarily for people who are detoxing or have some minor pathologies* in their body. The use of Lymph Massage for systemic issues such as recovery after surgery or treatment of cancer will be coming in October of this year.

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle rhythmic pumping movement, in the direction of lymph flow, to increase lymph movement. Since MLD is a superficial skin technique, it is very effective for skin problems, general cleansing of the body’s tissues, or flushing of the tissues. It is effective for treating lymphedema, acne, leg ulcers, hematoma, swelling due to sprains and strains. The way I apply MLD, it is a good support to your general well-being.

The purpose of the lymphatic system is to maintain fluid balance and transportation throughout the body. The Lymphatic system is part of the immune system and works in parallel with the circulatory system. The MLD works on both the sympathetic and parasympathetic components of the autonomic nervous system. it can be an effective means to help prevent colds or shorten the duration of an illness once an infection has set in.

There are 4 body functions to move lymph: 1. Breathing, 2. Muscle contractions, 3 Arterial pumping, 4 External compression (such as MLD or compression stockings).

MLD promotes systemic decongestion of deep and superficial lymphatic tissue. It mobilizes protein rich fluid toward the proximal intact vessels and nodes. Combined with compression (myofascial release massage), it decongests the tissues. MLD aids in filtering and transport of toxins, assists in deep cleaning the body, stimulates fluid circulation, absorbs fat and protein molecules, induces deep relaxation and activates anti-spasmatic action.

Some indications for MLD are:

  • post surgical swelling
  • Post traumatic swelling
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Relaxation and Detosification
  • Rosacea
  • Enhance cellular level immunity
  • Enhance beauty of the skin
  • Sinusitis
